Devcom Global is looking for competent, skilled, and experienced persons to fill the following jobs at its Ugandan headquarters in Kampala:

Job Title : Business Development Officer 

Location : Kampala, Uganda 

Reports to : Country Director, Uganda 

Expected Start date : Immediately 

 

Job Purpose

The Business Development Officer will work actively with the teams in Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan in business growth through engagement in identification and development of high-quality consultancy bids and participating in executing research assignments.

Key job Responsibilities

Initiate long-term research and consultancy partnerships with new clients

  • In consultation with the country team, develop and implement an organizational business development strategy and processes
  • Contribute to the expansion and maintenance of Devcom Global Associates consultants’ roster
  • Identify and track relevant upcoming consultancy opportunities – through advance intelligence gathering, online sources, partner relationships, and other available options and inform Country Offices (COs) for technical support
  • Take lead in drafting, writing and reviewing of high-quality consultancy proposals and bids
  • Actively track all proposal submission timelines, incoming/nascent projects, and appropriately match people/teams with projects based on skills and experience
  • Manage actions for pre-solicitation proposal preparations and bid planning including: teaming, bid strategy, development of win-themes, oversight of and contribution to technical design, drafting management and other sections of the proposal in advance of the solicitation.
  • Support consultants in the design, and review of research protocols, questionnaire design, and analysis of data (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Conduct prospecting visits to Organizations to identify and prepare for upcoming consultancy opportunities.
  • Represent Devcom Global business development interests at relevant meetings, events, and within clients’ specific peer networks as guided by the Country Director.
  • Support in the establishment of an inter-country research projects management information system

 

Qualifications:

Master Degree and at least 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a research environment. Appropriate graduate or undergraduate level education in Public Health, anthropology, statistics or a related field.

Required Skills

  • Experience in a business development role in a large consultancy firm or NGOs – (Preferred)
  • Experience in conducting research – (Preferred)
  • Ability to work independently in a stressful environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to write high level documents in a logical and concise manner
  • Practical experience with data collection fieldwork
  • Maturity and meticulous attention to detail and ability to proactively identify and manage risks
  • Ability to effectively communicate with local and international stakeholders at all levels and form strong relationships
